PaintingThe painting crew arrived, ready to go to work, supplies in hand.Therewere four of them - each one busy doing his own job in our kitchen. We haddecided to refinish the kitchen and laundry room cupboards and doors tocompliment our new countertops and tile, and the day had now arrived. All the drawers were emptied and taken to the garage forspray painting. Existing hinges had been exchanged for the new hidden hinges, and the painters took their tape and plastic sheets and began to cover andprotect the countertops and floors. All appliances were taped off, doorsremoved and then the priming began. Next came the first coatof white paint and then the kitchen was put back together. The next step wasto faux the drawers and cabinets, and God sent us a lovely lady from Alabamato do the job. She worked long and diligently to give us the look wewanted, and when she had finished, she sealed the cabinets with a topcoat ofclearseal. Installing drawer pulls and handles was next, with drillingpreformed by our handyman. Gosh, how many did it take to get this kitchenback in order? I wondered. Four painters, the artist, the handyman and me -that's how many! Isn't it nice that God can "re-do" our lives all byHimself? He scrubs away all the old and makes us new... when we ask Him to doso. The Bible tells us we who believe in Him are made new creations in Christ...we are protected and covered by the blood of Christ, and then we are given theHoly Spirit to guide and comfort us. Our house was 18 years old when wedecided to do the refinishing - just a few years older than I was when Godrefinished my life. So when you come to our home for coffee, Bible study, a luncheon orjust a visit - look in our kitchen, and remember the way God refinished yourown life, and give thanks.
