Day of Tragedy, Day of ReconstructionIn light of recent events in the USA, I thought it appropriate to supercede today's Daily Wisdom submission. The article originally scheduled for today will run sometime in the future. All civilized individuals must agree together to reach out a hand of assistance, or at least readiness, and to pray as we have never prayed before for the peoplewho have lost lives, limbs, or loved ones, for the security of the nation and it's people, and yes, even for those who have been wrongly led to believe that such acts as were committed yesterday are somehow acts of courage or conviction. They were neither. If you, dear reader, are one who calls upon our Creator God and His Son, Jesus Christ, I urge you to pray and trust God with all your heart, soul and mind; and to guard your heart against hate, for it is hate which motivates all such acts of atrocity. Let us not be like them. If you do not number yourself among those who consider Jesus Christ your Lord, it is my prayer that, as heinous as this tragedy is, that you will use it as a positive springboard to evaluate the things that are most important in this life and the next. Either way, this day of tragedy can also become a day for constructive words and actions. This is a time of mourning, but not a time for hate. It is a time for positive action, not for bemoaning our own misfortunes. It is a time for reaching out to others in need of compassion, not for floundering in self-sympathy. It is a time to strengthen our resolves of what is right, not for discouragement or apathy. It is a day of prayer for justice and an appropriate response, not for hopes of revenge. In short, this is a day to begin reconstruction, not more destruction. Please join Gospelcom.net President Billy Zeoli in this quest for positive action as he reminds us of this verse from the Old Testament of God's Word: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 NIV
