Falling Leaves III Part Two

Editor's note: This week we are continuing the Falling Leaves story. If you missed Part One, you can find four weekly installments beginning here:http://www.gospelcom.net/gci/dw/2001/08/10/, Part Two in eight daily installments here:http://www.DailyWisdom.com/2001/11/12/, and the first installment of Falling Leaves III here:http://www.DailyWisdom.com/2002/01/14/."Honestly, how could all this be true?" Thomas continues his shrimp feast. "We as scientists know, it's not possible. If anything it proves that there couldn't be any truth to that scenario. How can the book be true?"

"Well, my friend how can you know if you were not there? I find one creature in that 'mythical book' as you call it, to be very real," the Baron sips his drink.

"And who would that be?" Thomas raises a brow?

"Oh please, Victor not now," the Baroness chides her husband.

"Well, if Adam was real, I'd like to tell him a thing or two, like how stupid he was listening to a woman," Ray sits down, "and eating the one thing God told him not to eat." his dance companion sits next to him and pops a piece of fruit in his mouth. "What an idiot," he chomps away. "Thanks Crystal," he smiles at her.

"I just want the truth. I spent years looking for something I am now thinking doesn't exist," Thomas counters. "If you have some evidence, please let us know. Then I could start looking with these possibilities in mind."

"Okay, if God makes something perfect from the beginning," Alec questions, "then where did all the prehistoric men come from? Cave men were so insufficient. The men in the first part of the Bible lived for hundreds of years. Evidence shows early man died young, only one in ten reached the age of 40. It is hard for me to believe that all skeletal bones are fakes, as some Christians think."

"I know some are not fake," Thomas takes another glass of punch from the waiter, "I have seen them, found them. Neanderthal is not fake, there is not a lot that has been found, but they are there."

"They could not all be faked. They were a successful race," James adds. "We have proof they existed, just a few examples, but enough to demonstrate they could not all be mistakes."

"Denying their existence is how some protect God's reality. They don't understand the truth. So they deny the signs of what they think might detract from Him. Yet in so doing, they hinder the full truth from being obtained. They should just worship and pray, for discernment," Crystal seems suddenly embarrassed by her own candor.

"I know dinosaur bones are not fake, they are real and they are older than the Bible indicates they can be if all were created, all man and all animals, in the same week. So are they faked?" Thomas continues his doubting.

"I think that archeologists from the past, wanting to make a name for themselves or perhaps well-meaning, interpreted their findings to support what they theorized to be true. They believed in evolution so they left out certain aspects of found remains to pigeonhole information to fit an evolutionary format. But it is clear that there are hominoids from the past that are different from us. What's strange," James continues, "is that not all these bones seem to really have a species. Many seem very different from each other, no set pattern, many that date from the same time."

Several candles on the table flame bright then burn out all at the same time. Everyone looks at them. The Baron looks at Mr. Laab.

"Yes," Ray scratches his head, "That is what is so strange about the past. Wonder if the old deceiver had anything to do with that?"

"Do you think it's possible the devil had anything to do with those people?" Alex crosses his legs and looks at James.

"Who knows? I think he would have if he could have."

"It's not like he has such a pristine past." Ray picks up a matchbook and re-lights the candles, "Look at the things Satan has done before, does now. What makes you think he has not done anything at all in the past millions of years? Where is his history in the past? If the universe is 4 1/2 billion years old, and God created all at the same time, Lucifer may have worshiped God for eons before he decided he wanted out."

"God didn't have a reason to lock him up at first. Maybe all he had done was refuse to worship God and be His. In the beginning God loved him. So maybe God decided to give him enough rope to hang himself." James continues.

"Aren't there cave drawings depicting Angels? How could ancient cave men have known about Angels?" the Baroness reasons.

"I don't know if the cave drawings are real, but if so, maybe they saw angelic activity in the sky or maybe it served the fallen angels purpose to show themselves to those people. Maybe they were trying to teach them skills. Neanderthal lived for 250 thousand years and never advanced their skills. They used the same tool when they died out as they started with. This is not usual, all intelligent life improves their skills, all humans that is, that we know of," Thomas shakes his head.

"They never learned anything?" Crystal looks amazed. "Anyway, maybe the fallen angels didn't have a need to hide, not to such primitive race."

"Not until they wanted to become evil to people. Why else hide?" Alex adds. "The only reason you would want to conceal yourself would be to deceive. They need not deceive the hopelessly lost. You would just need to hide to those you want to fool. Those you want to be evil to in secret. If the fallen Angels are the evil in life, they would eventually be evil to everyone."

"Even to those that worship them," the Baroness looks at her husband. "These things seem strange."

"I must agree with the Baroness," Thomas rubs his beard, "these things do seem strange. I'm not sure I don't believe in God but, these suggestions seem ghastly."

"Is it less ghastly to believe God made these hominoids than to believe the old deceiver affected them? How would that work? Okay if God made it, its okay but if Satan did it I can't take that knowledge?" Ray smiles at his girlfriend. "But how could angels have done something like that anyway?"

"We know Angels can have regenerative powers, when Moses threw out his staff that turned into a snake, Pharaoh's magicians did the same." James throws a pen on the table. Everyone stares at it.

"I don't know, maybe it's wrong to reason these things, "Ray shrugs," but some of it makes sense it would explain it all."

"Well, that at the very least, means it's possible," Alex wonders. "It would sure be something to think about."

To be continued.
