Inhale Here, Exhale There

Her son pointed this out to me, while she was deathbed. "Have you ever noticed that when someone dies, they inhale, but don't exhale?"I not only had never thought about it, I'd never thought that was the way it is. But sometimes it is. When his mama went Home, she took a breath in, and then she just left. I know that her breath came out, when all her body systems let go here, but that last breath...

She must have inhaled here, and exhaled There. Did she take earth air There? No, she was changed, and everything about her was changed, the way she breathes now, and the way she blinks her eyes now, and even the way she smiles is different from the way it was here.

She may not even breathe or blink there, as we know it, I don't know. But how could she enjoy that fresh air, if she didn't breathe it in?

I KNOW she's seen things that have made her blink once or twice!

And don't you think she smiled and I mean, smiled BIG, when she saw those boys of hers, and that precious daughter, and the love of her life? And her mama and daddy, how long had it been since she'd seen their faces? I can just imagine that, while she was scanning the sea of faces that she'd loved and known here, she was looking for Him.

Then He was there with her.

I can just imagine it, can't you? There He stood, arms open wide, and then He hugged her. Maybe that's when she realized that she'd been holding her breath, and so she let it out, with a soft sigh, and then she hugged Him back.
