Sewing Kit

Romans 5:5- For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts.An item of clothing needed a small repair, so I took out my sewing kit. It was necessary for me to rummage through the box to find the correct thread color and needle necessary for the job. There were pins, needles, a tape measure and a hem measurer, spools of thread in many colors, buttons, hooks and eyes, a thimble and a crochet hook. I gathered the necessary items and began to sew the garment. Soon the job was completed, and I was satisfied with the result.

God has a sewing kit of love, which He would like to use for us, if only we would allow Him to do so. His great desire is to gently sew our lives together with Him- using those multicolored threads of love, which are available to Him. He wants to take a snap or button and close the open gap of an unfulfilled life. He would use the crochet hook to repair the small but harmful snags, which keep us separated from Him. He can use friends as the straight pins and needles helping to hold us together as life may seem to crumble before us. He is able to use a measure tape- reminding us that we should never measure our good deeds compared to our peers, but to Jesus, the perfect One. God takes off His thimble of mercy, turns it upside down and pours it over His children in great measure. Yes, I am glad I had a sewing chore to complete today, for it reminded me of our wonderful God and His ability and willingness to sew my life and yours into wholeness with Him.
