Watch the BalloonFor his 1st birthday we bought him a very large Mylar "Happy Birthday" balloon. It had a weighted base attached to the ribbon so it wouldn't float away, as it was filled with helium. Tanner was thrilled with his present, and couldn't seem to take his eyes off it. He would grab for it and touch and squeeze it. He put his little mouth on it and tried to bite it (luckily this didn't happen!) If I drew the balloon close to him, or let it float to the ceiling, his eyes would follow the balloon. Oh that we would follow God like that! If we could keep our eyes on the Lord embracing and kissing Him and staying focused on Him how wonderful our lives would be. There is a song "Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus" it says - turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His wonder and grace." How true! Remember the story in the Bible where Jesus called Peter onto the water? Peter walked on the water until he took his eyes off Jesus then he sank into the waves. They would have overtaken him if Jesus had not held out His hand and rescued him. Let's try to keep our eyes and heart focused on our Heavenly Father the author and finisher of our faith if we do, the waves of life will not engulf us and drag us into their depths.
