What is a Normal Family? #289

What is a normal family? Almost twenty-five percent of American children live at home with only one parent. Either mom or dad is absent. Are single parent families normal? In addition, divorce is so prevalent, schoolteachers can never assume children’s names are the same as their parents. Are families where mom and dad have been divorced once or twice really abnormal? Then there are the homosexual and lesbian couples. These people are pressing for equal rights. They wanted to be treated as normal. They want the benefits accorded to single parent families and divorced people. Adoptions by lesbian and homosexual couples are already a reality.

What about couples that fall in love, get married, stay married, raise their family with traditional or religious values, and still stay married? We don’t hear much about these people. They are still the backbone of America. Are they normal? Perhaps. But even here we find dysfunctional families where there is abuse of children or alcohol or drugs. Massive drug abuse is now producing a generation of toxic children.

It’s time to get back to the Bible and the family life taught in the Bible. Families with faithful moms and dads at home are needed. God centered families are needed to counter the trend of abnormality becoming acceptable. Father’s Day is a time to celebrate this kind of family.
