Does it Feel Like a War?
For months now, our country has been bombarded with facts and statements from the government telling us we are at war. Yet day to day, I don't feel like we're at war. There is no shortage of gasoline, or water, or food. No rationing. No massive drafting of young people to go overseas and fight. Granted this is a different kind of war than ever before. In the light of some some recent info from the media, I realized that regardless of what it feels like, the reality is we are very much so in a war. Yes, ever since 9-11 we have been in a full fledged war with terrorism. The face of the enemy looks like Islamic extremists, living all over the world, who will stop at nothing until they have taken over everywhere. All in the name of Allah, their god, who is not Jehovah God, the Lord of hosts. We are all in another war every single day of our lives for as long as we live. This enemy is subversive, sneaky, and relentless also, and has a terrible plan for our lives. He doesnt want to simply distract, or deter us, from Godly living. He wants to ruin, wreck, and utterly destroy us. Quite some time ago I heard a pastor make a thought-provoking remark, If you dont know youre in a war, youve already lost the battle. So- even though we may not overtly feel we are in a moment-by-moment war with satan, we most assuredly are. The good news is we know Who wrote the last chapter, and Who wins.
