Come With Thanksgiving#210

Literally the Psalm tells us to make haste to enter into the presence of God. Do you make haste to enter into God's presence? You really make haste to get to the football game or the basketball game. But will you make haste to come before God with thanksgiving? Of course there are those who look down their noses at God. Ted Turner called Christianity "a religion of losers." The newspaper report tells us that Turner said Christ should not have bothered to die on the cross. "I don't want anybody to die for me," he was quoted as saying. "I've had a few drinks and a few girl friends, and if that's gonna put me in hell, then so be it." A minister characterized Turner's belief like this: "That bloody religion of Christianity is no religion for a gentleman, thank you." But "Who may ascend to the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart" (Psalm 24:3-4). And how are you going to have hands perfectly clean from sin? How are you going to have a heart purified from all sin? There is only one way! You must trust in the sacrifice of Christ! "He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross" (1 Peter 2:24). "For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God" (1 Peter 3:18).  Yes, Jesus Christ takes people like you and me into God's presence. And so it is only through Him that we can come before God to give Him thanks. Many people do not give thanks to God on Thanksgiving because, like Ted Turner they reject Jesus Christ.
