The Greatest PrizeWhen we arrived, I looked around and I didn't like what I saw. Many of the houses were run down, old, and badly in need of upkeep. We put that behind us and got to work! All of these people were very poor. It made me think of how fortunate I was to live in a good sized house with plenty to eat and plenty of money to buy Christmas cards. We finally sold 23 packs of cards. We felt good about helping out, but everyone was disappointed we didn't win. Even so, I think I won the greatest prize possible: the opportunity to see how giving the people of this neighborhood were, even if they weren't so fortunate. I could definitely see God working through them. That experience really showed me how greedy I am. I spend my money on clothes, CDs etc., and I have to think twice about donating money to charity. The Lord turned on the light and now I am REALLY ready to serve him!
