Effective Prayer#135
Have you ever argued with God? Probably! And you may have felt guilty afterward. But more likely, you were probably so fed up with life that you were like Job's wife. She encouraged her husband by saying, "Curse God and die" (Job 2:9). Some encouragement! But there is a proper way to argue with God. It is not by railing against God. It is by fully believing His promises. Moses believed the promise of God. And Moses was bold to remind God, "The nations who have heard of Thy fame will say, Because the Lord could not bring this people into the land which He promised by oath, therefore He slaughtered them in the wilderness" (Numbers 14:15 16). Yes, Moses believed the promise of God. And Moses was ready to defend the promise of God before its author. Reminding God of His great and precious promises is an effective way to pray. And pleading with God to defend the greatness of His name is a powerful argument with God. But just remember, if you are going to argue with God, you had better be on His side. If you dishonor God before others and blaspheme His name, you are in trouble. But if you seek His honor and if you argue before Him to glorify His name in the world, you will be blessed!
