He Didn't Know Me

Though she (a mother) may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engravedyou on the palms of my hands.Stopping by for a quick visit, I was surprised to find the house unlocked andno one home.Out back, in an open patch by the road, I found my 89 year olddad. He was sitting on a towel, trimming the grass, with a pair of smallscissors. I said, "Hi!" He looked up at me with vacant eyes. For aminute, he didn't know me.

My heart lurched. If you've been there, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, perhaps one day you will be blessed with this situation.

I didn't used to look at things this way. Then I heard a wise woman say,"Everything is a gift from God." it was the "everything" that got myattention.

In heaven, my dad will know me again. And while I'm still here on earth, Ican count on the truth that my heavenly Father will always recognize and loveme, no matter how often I visit Him.
