Guarding Your Mind

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. (Isaiah 26:3)We have to constantly keep ourselves surrounded on all sides by the Word of God.It's like in that movieThe Golden Childwith Eddie Murphy where a group kidnapped the Buddhist child-priest and said that he has to be surrounded on all sides, all the time, by evil to prevent him from doing good. Likewise, we need to always be surrounded by Good to prevent us from doing evil. This includes guarding our mind, which can be so passive. Without even putting up any real fight or sometimes even noticing it, we give the Devil free access to invade our thoughts and pretty soon were far away somewhere thinking ungodly things. Remember, Where the mind goes, the man follows.

We must totally immerse ourselves in the Word of God by daily meditating on what it says and not only that but applying it to our lives. Its the applying part that we all struggle with! Nevertheless, it can be done. Once we totally fill our minds with the Word of God, there is no space left for the Devil to come in and invade our minds. Further, what is inside of us will eventually spill out and over into our actions towards other persons. If we meditate on the fruits of the spirit, then we will exhibit those qualities in our life.

So, go forth and begin to wage war on the adversary. Totally bowl him over with your determination to be totally consumed by the Word of God.Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8)
