Illumination Without The Bible#048
When you first pick up the Bible, it can seem like a jumble. There is poetry and history. There are little proverbs and long essays in the form of letters. And so many subjects are covered.It's all very confusing. Is there any system or pattern behind what is written in the Bible? Yes there is. The first thing to realize is that the author of the Bible is God Himself. And "God is not a God of confusion" (1 Corinthians 14:33). He has not given us a book which is a mass of confused letters and poems. God also says, "Let all things be done properly and in an orderly manner" (1 Corinthians 14:40). As a result, there is order in the Bible. There is not confusion. And so, when you study the Bible, you see that God has a plan for the world. And part of God's plan involves the conflict between man and that fallen angel called the devil. But God's plan also involves the work of His Son. Before His Son entered the world, God's angel said, "You shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21). The Bible also says that Jesus partook of flesh and blood "that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil; and might deliver those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives" (Hebrews 2:14-15). Yes, there is a system of truth taught in the Bible. It is God's plan for salvation. "It is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes" (Romans 1:16). And so you need to read and study the Bible. You need to understand the teachings of the Bible. It tells you God's plan of salvation through Jesus Christ.
