Vacation or Trip?
Isaiah 26:3 God will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in Him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord. In my opinion, there is a difference between taking a vacation, and taking a trip.Trips allow you to arrive at a destination, but they lack the relaxed ambience of what I call, "a vacation," When I go on a vacation, I can take time to just sit and reflect. I can pause, thinking on the goodness of God, and how He has provided for me. I drop thoughts of home responsibilities, medical or financial problems and concentrate on relationships. How blessed I have been to have the same loving husband for 38 years, 2 grown daughters, 2 wonderful son-in-laws, 2 grandsons and a new grandbaby on the way. I can pause and appreciate the prayer partners God has given me, my sister who is my spiritual mentor, and other friends and family. I can absorb moments of beauty in nature and wonder at the magnificence of it all. I can stop and give thanks for moments like these, for the gift of life and love, and the promise of eternity. It is a peaceful place to dwell.
Actually, I needn't "go away" to enjoy this type of a vacation. It is available for me- and you- wherever we happen to be. We can seize a moment here and there in our busy day to pause, reflect, enjoy and be thankful for our many blessings. I am going to start doing this today, and I hope you will join me.
