My Servant Will Justify Many#330
Many people reject the notion of Christ shedding His blood to save sinners. Such a blood religion is no religion for gentlemen they say.But such people don't reject the example of Christ. In fact, they are pleased to follow His example. And they pat themselves on the back when they do so. But as for the blood of Christ being given in payment for their sins, that's disgusting. Then there are those who do embrace the death of Christ for sinners. They glory in the cross. And they trust in Christ alone as the only adequate payment for their sins. These people are on the way to heaven. But when you ask them for whom Christ died, their answer is that He died for everyone. He died for all! And these people will not accept any other answer. All always means all and that's that! But what does the Bible tell us? Jesus Himself said, "The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45). This was in keeping with the Old Testament prediction where God said, "My Servant will justify many" (Isaiah 53:11). One thing is clear. These verses talk about many and not all. And the fact of the matter is, we know, from our common experience, that not all people believe in Christ as a ransom payment for sin. I began by talking about such people. And so, does Christ justify all people? No, Christ does not give all people right standing before God. In the end, there are people who must pay the just penalty due to them for their own sins. Hell awaits such people. The words of Christ stand, He came "as a ransom for many." And the words of Isaiah stand, "My Servant will justify many." Are you one of the many for whom Christ died?
