The Ant Scout

We have this continual thing with ants at our house. Here's how it seems to work: the ants have a secret place they live; hidden in the wall, or behind the cabinets, or light switch or "Somewhere." They frequently dispatch a "scout" to check out the counter tops and sink for any food bits. The scout meanders around, and should he find anything of interest, he returns to the nest to alert the others. At that point the steady stream begins, with the ants transporting the booty to their home.

My theory is if I catch the scout, no more ants will follow. Reminds me of the saying, "Don't kill the messenger." He's not the bad guy. He only showed up to deliver the message.

Long time ago God sent a messenger to us. He wasn't bad; in fact he was as good, loving, kind and perfect as anyone could be. Yet we killed him.

There’s a happy ending though, to this story. God's messenger was Jesus, God’s son. And his death and subsequent resurrection is what brings us life- forever.

Perhaps from now on when I see an ant scout, it will remind me of the good news of The Messenger.
