Wings And A Prayer

Somewhere I read that the greatest gift we can give ourchildren is faith in God, and wings to soar.As does abird eventually fly from its nest, so too will ourlittle ones leave home when it is time to explore theworld on their own. No longer will they be tinysparrows, but with the right upbringing, hopefully theywill exit the nest with the wings of an eagle; strongand able.

It is necessary to prepare children how to fully dealwith all the responsibilities of the outside world, butis more important that this foundation stems from arighteous source; God.

Faith in God offers us hope when times seem bleak, andinner strength when we feel like succumbing to weakness. Faith in God provides us the knowledge that we arehere on this planet, not just to eat, sleep, work andplay, but for a much deeper reason; to share love, andworship God in everything we do and say. Faith in Godis a responsibility in itself for we are then stewardsand ambassadors of the most precious knowledge. Ourchildren may not always grow up to be award-winningnovelists and famous actors, but to be called a childof Christ is more honorable than any earthly title.

Parents hold a significant part in the raising of theirchildren, and while both mothers and fathers areimportant aspects to every family, on Mother's Day itis a time to pay homage to those women who have givenof their heart for the sake of a child.

The following is a short Mother's Day Prayer.

"Heavenly Father, sometimes the role of mother goesunappreciated and noticed, yet, thank you God, forshowing us how valuable these women are in society, andin your precious sight. Thank you, God, for Yourcontinued guidance so that we may teach our children togrow in ways that will make You proud, and thank youfor helping us to be honorable vessels which teach byexample, rather than mere word. Our thanks, God, maynot always be immediate, but when our children havetheir own children, and we see that that the good wayswe have taught them are again passed on to anothergeneration, may our hearts be filled with gladness! This we ask in the name of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen."
