More Than Meets the NoseA few days later I made broccoli. I was just glad it didn't smell like pudding. Of course, it never smelled quite like broccoli either. Stale granola bars didn't make a great vegetable, but I decided not to get my nose all out of joint over it. I don't mean to sound "nosy," but if people could sort of "sniff" your spirit, could they tell what you're really made of? One of our life goals should be for all those around us catch a giant whiff of love whenever we're near. We learn that kind of love from God the Father--and it perfumes our lives and makes living so very sweet. Ephesians 5:1-2 says, "Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children, and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." (NIV) Did that say "fragrant" offering? Here's where it all starts to make "scents." Jesus loved us so much that he gave his life--his all--on our behalf. Now there's a love we can sink our olfactory nerves into! It's amazing to think that when our Father gives us a heavenly sniff, he breathes in the fragrant offering of Christ. His amazing love is even more than meets the nose! As for dinner, I'm buying a fresh box of granola bars.
