OpportunityA lot of people would love to have those days back. Too many people never appreciate the abundance of opportunities our country offers until decades after graduation. Fresh starts become harder to find. Risks never taken become the biggest regrets. In my experience, opportunity knocks but is seldom persistent in knocking when finding no one home. But it smiles on the true believer who seizes opportunity and holds on for an exciting ride. Many years ago, my partner, Jay Van Andel, and I started a business called Amway from the basements of our homes. We wanted to give everyone the opportunity to succeed in a business of their own. Millions of people around the world have since embraced the opportunity. And our opportunity business is still going strong as part of the parent company known as Alticor. I believe in a great God. As His children, created in His image, Im convinced God wants greatness for us and provides opportunities for us to fulfill our God-given potential. And we can all thank God for the opportunities Hes given us. But its up to us to recognize those opportunities and have the courage and imagination to take advantage of them.
