Making Your Mark

I remember when I was much younger and every year our family would go camping.Hiking during the day was always fun, especially for a tom-boy type gal as I was, and I can vividly recall passing many a tree along certain marked paths where people would carve their initials in or profess their love for each other in the form of something like "Jack Loves Sue." Everyone knew it was wrong to deface the trees, but I guess some individuals felt such a strong need to leave their mark in the world that they were willing to risk getting caught by a conservation officer or park ranger.

Most people I know DO want to somehow let the world know that they were here. Some people may accomplish this by doing something wonderful for mankind, as discovering a helpful vaccine, or contributing a great collection of art, while others may draw attention to them self by committing an evil, such as in how Adolf Hitler is now remembered for his attempt to exterminate all the Jews of the world.

Our time here on this earth is so short, isn't it? I know that even as a mother of two teens myself, it seems like just yesterday when I was holding my little ones in my arms as babies. Now, look at them. In a few years, or maybe even sooner, they could be out on their own seeking to make their own mark in the world.

What about you? What type of mark will others remember you for?

It is never too late to turn your life around, and it is never too soon to reach out to God for direction. I have seen in my life, people who, with God's help, break the bondage of addictions to alcohol and drugs. I have known men and women who were involved in sinful relationships, and dangerously affected by negative mindsets, reject evil and cleave to righteousness; all with the assistance of our heavenly Father. Alone we may be weak, but with God, all things are possible.

Begin to make your positive mark today!
