Plant ManagerEvidently, the red petunias are his favorite. They were mine, too. He must think I've set out a colorful bunny salad buffet. He has so appreciated the cuisine here that he's set up residence under the giant evergreen just beyond the flower garden. He's made quite the set-up for himself in there. I think he has cable. Every time the flowers start to come back, he takes his little buffet tray and shears off the next round. He's even managed to buzz the grasses in our landscaping. What - he needed a side dish to go with my petunias? Someone told me that if I put hair from our hairbrushes around the flowers, the human scent would keep him away. Sort of a bunny "brush-off," wouldn't you say? I was ready to try anything to kick the rabbit habit. But the hair brush contents didn't seem to bother him in the least. In fact, I'm wondering if I saw him a few days later with a tiny little toupee. Leave it to Imp-bunny to convert it into a weave for himself. I think I saw him sporting the new do with a short chubby paw over his mouth - he was snickering at me. Am I frustrated? Just a "hare." Is he getting this from the Internet, or is there some kind of bunny instruction manual that tells him how to cook up a mean spider-grass stew? Does he spend time under that big evergreen studying the fine art of distinguishing weeds from flowers, deciding which fork should rest closest to the petunia soufflé, and determining which kind of coffee should be served with the flower flambé? Maybe what I need to do is forget the hairbrush and set up a covert mission to the evergreen to commandeer his information book. There's a real instruction book for those of us in the human species. It's God's Word, and it gives us everything we need for living life the way it was meant to be lived. Staying faithful in our personal Bible study time is such an effective exercise in faith-building. Psalm 119:138 says, "You rightly instruct us in how to live ever faithful to you." (The Message) Would you like to see your faith "flower"? Spend time every day in the Word of God. As for Buggs, he seems to be "flowering" too. Despite the fact that he's on the all-salad diet, I thought I noticed a Weight Watchers menu planner sticking out from under the evergreen.
