GRABBING FEAR BY THE TAIL!Then, during one of morning devotions I read about Moses and when God turned his staff into a snake (Ex. 4:3). What did Moses do when God displayed His miraculous power? He ran! But God called Moses back and told him to grab the snake by the tail. When Moses did, the snake became a staff again. Sometimes, Iím like Moses and run the other way when confronted with my fears. But God wants me, like Moses, to grab my fears by the tail. But God wants to do something more than just conquering my fears. Many years later, venomous snakes invaded the camp of Israel and bit them because Israel complained against God (Num. 21:4-8). But God had compassion on Israel and instructed Moses to make a bronze snake so Israel could be healed. I found this story of Moses and snakes relevant to grabbing fear by the tail. You see, Moses grabbed his fear by the tail and then he created something out of his fear that God used for healing. Oh yes, I know, this is a stretch on the literal text of scripture but there is a valuable principle here for creativity. It's this - when we grab our fears by the tail then we can use them as a catalyst for healing others. For me, this means writing past my fears and writing to inspire! Just a footnote -- be very, very careful if you complain against God. You could get snake bite!
