Celebrate!Ive encouraged people for years to celebrate opportunity, freedom, God-given talents, and a host of blessings we enjoy but too often take for granted. Leaving the hospital with a new heart and a new lease on life gave me a fresh appreciation for the importance of celebration in our lives. When was your last big celebration? If you have to think back years to a wedding or milestone birthday or anniversary, it was too long ago. Do you fail to celebrate because you think its too much expense or bother an effort reserved only for the big occasions? Celebrate often and youll find that the glow of a special occasion will warm your heart long afterward. Life is special. The blessings of life deserve celebration. Lets not wait for the next birthday or wedding or major anniversary. Of course we celebrate the milestones. But some of the simple achievements and otherwise ordinary days are really extraordinary blessings that also deserve our celebration. Lets celebrate our marriages, families, friendships, and accomplishments. Set the family dinner table with your favorite linens and china, and toast to life and its blessings. Order that favorite dish and dessert at a nice restaurant. Entertain friends in your home. Throw a little party for your children. We have a very special opportunity to practice that spirit of celebration this month. Gods son was born on earth, spent time teaching us how to live for Him, and gave His life so that we may live. The Bible talks about this salvation as an invitation to a banquet. Pull up a chair and celebrate this feast! Celebrate Christmas this year with presents that are priceless. Celebrate with generous gifts of love and joy to others. Celebrate the nearness of family and friends. Celebrate with prayers of thanks for your many blessings and the true gift of the season, our Savior Jesus Christ. Fill your senses with lights, decorations, and music and your hearts with love, laughter, peace and good will. "Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." Have a very merry and blessed Christmas. Celebrate!
