Notes

Deuteronomy 6:7-9

Passing notes was dangerous. But it was fun."Mary, Susan says that Johnnie likes Barbara. Do you like him? Check YES or NO." Or, "Can I see your homework?" Or, the not-so-smart, "Don't you just hate this class? It is so b-o-r-i-n-g!"

If you got caught writing, passing, or reading a note in class, the consequences could vary. At the least, you might suffer embarassment, such as having the note read to the whole class. At worst, you could be sentenced to detention.

Last December, my husband and I were in NYC when they were experiencing bitter cold and record snows. We bundled up one afternoon and took the subway up toward Central Park. It is always a magnificent place. This particular day the snow made it purely magical.

God began to write and pass notes to me. "See the deep blue sky? I made it for you." "When the squirrel hops on the fence again, it means I'm sending you a hug." "That white blanket, covering the bridge there, is a present for you today!"

When God passes a note to us, no one gets into trouble. He just wants to get our attention so that we'll open them and read them.

God's notes: the best notes ever written, passed, or read.
