I Need You

During the months when Daily Wisdom was off-line, I was surprised to see just how much it meant to me to write for this particular Christian medium which I have already devoted over seven years of my life to. I always knew it provided certain spiritual rewards, such as adding a deeper sense of meaning to my existence due to the joy and satisfaction of knowing I might be helping lead someone to Christ. However, most of my feelings concerning my writing contributions to Daily Wisdom encompassed what I was giving, not what readers were offering in return.

There is an old saying, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." How true this is. During those many months when there were no emails from readers seeking prayer or informal advice on some sort of issue that was seriously affecting them, it increasingly dawned on me just how much I missed them, and how much I needed them. For so many years, I thought that I was the one doing most of the giving, but as reality has it, it is I who should be thanking you for the gift you have given me.

Along that same line of thinking, the past sabbatical also provided me with an increased appreciation of the entire Gospel Communications Network staff, especially my editor, Warren Kramer, who so selflessly gives of his time and efforts to bring an important message to the masses. Sometimes we only see what is directly before us, and we fail to peek behind the proverbial show curtain to see all the stage hands, lighting people, directors, choreographers, musical directors and other important people whose efforts allow productions to be successful.

In life, there are many gifts set before us, yet, often, we are too blind to see or appreciate what is there until it is too late.

God's love and mercy is also a gift, and it is up to you reach out and take it. Gifts are also made to be used, not stored away unused in a dusty closet. God's good news is a message of peace, love, hope and forgiveness, and it belongs out in the open, in the streets, in the airwaves, and through every available avenue God makes possible.

God is calling you. Listen.
