The Coin
One day, the Pharisees cunningly asked Jesus whether it is lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not. In their game they were holding a coin of a different type. Their coin was faceless; whatever was in their minds was stamped on both sides of the coin, giving no chance for anyone to win except themselves. Yet Jesus won. He understood the nature of their coin and, according to it, He defeated them. Jesus replied, "Show Me the tax money. Whose image and inscription is this?" The time had come for them to show how they perceived their faceless coin and they replied, "Caesar's". Triumphant, Jesus replied, "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's". Our lives are like the coin. Whose image and inscription is there on our lives? Is it the image of the world (money, fame, relationship, etc.) or the image of Jesus? Life's game will end with the rule of "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are God's. How glorious it is that our lives are ultimately rendered unto our Savior, Jesus Christ, with no loss at all to the world. How beautiful it is to select the "King of Kings" to be the image and inscription on the coin of our lives.
