Balance

These days, the buzz is all about balanced budgets, balanced tires, balanced diets, balanced exercise routines; it's all about balance! Of course, to me, a fairly balanced exercise routine means that you burn 300 calories on the treadmill at the fitness center, then balance it out with a Chocolate Blast from DQ on the way home. I consider our family budget "balanced" when my husband opens up the money program and I don't find him a few minutes later banging his head on the computer monitor.

I guess I don't need to tell you that I might not be a balance expert, especially since my idea of a balanced diet usually means balancing the box of Ding Dongs with a diet cola.

We get spiritually balanced when we understand that real spiritual equilibrium comes from understanding and applying the Word of God and by walking in the Spirit, obeying what we've read. Want to stay the course, living a balanced life? Stay grounded in God's Word. Psalm 119:33-35 says, "God, teach me lessons for living so I can stay the course. Give me insight so I can do what you tell memy whole life one long, obedient response. Guide me down the road of your commandments; I love traveling this freeway!" (TM)

God's road to balance is so much smarter than mine. In my "balanced" reasoning, a balanced diet consists of equal amounts of potato chips and chocolate ice cream.
