FinishedI just hit the send button. Let the people rejoice! Okay, "the people" would more accurately be described as "me." But there is a lot of rejoicing, nonetheless. The "send button rejoicing" is all about a book manuscript. Book complete. Deadline met. By the way, I think I know why it's called a "deadline." It's because writers have to just about kill themselves to meet it. But while there's a lot of rejoicing over my met deadline, there's a deadline that was met in an eternally more significant way. Jesus laid His life on the line. He died so that we could come to the Father through Him. That makes us all sing an enthusiastic "praise the Lord," doesn't it?"Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!Let the earth hear his voicePraise the Lord! Praise the Lord!Let the people rejoiceOh come to the Father through Jesus the SonAnd give him the glory, great things he hath done"I love that hymn! I love singing praises to the Lord who has met the deadline for me. Give HIM the glory! Writing deadlines will come and go. But the great things He has done are once and for all. There's a great sense of accomplishment (and a big sigh of relief) as a big book project is finished. But it's nothing compared to the "It is finished" Jesus spoke from the cross. Everything we'll ever require for our eternal well-being was completed at Christ's sacrificial death on that cross. And the rejoicing? That's eternal, too. Let the people- all the people- rejoice eternally! Of course, as a writer, I have an extra reason to rejoice: God the Father never requires rewrites.
