The Melody Of His LoveUpon going through my CD collection in an attempt to find that just right type of music, one that would reflect my then current mood, it occured to me that after many years of buying a disk here and there, my collection had grown quite vast. While some people have one or two types of music they prefer, mine represents styles from numerous diverse cultures and genres. When I am feeling particularly energetic, I play classic rock, disco, or something from a foreign land which has a lively beat one could dance to. During times I feel like singing, I reach for a broadway musical, and when pensive, I put on something intense, such as classical, or something with a Latin flavor. It certainly does seem like music has the ability to provide something for everybody. An individual may not care for opera, but they may adore alternative music. Or, someone may be deeply moved by folk music, yet another person may not be able to appreciate its earthy roots. In similar manner, there are those people who have made an attempt to read the truths presented within the Bible, but because they may have been unmoved by the particular chapter or verse their eyes gazed upon, they decided God's word simply wasn't for them. My dear friends, if you wouldn't totally abandon listening to and enjoying music just because you didn't care for a certain style, then why do we often so easily do this to God; turn our back on our spiritual welfare simply because we may need a little help understanding and appreciating the Scriptures? Or what about those people who make an effort to attend their local church, yet find the experience was less than what they expected, and thus, decide to never step foot in a church again? Friends, the fact the Bible was not written by one person, and was the work of numerous divinely-inspired men and women of God, shows that God appreciates diversity. In His eyes YOU are a unique creation! If you are someone who has given up on God due to what you perceive as a bad or lacking experience, please join me in the following prayer: "Dear God, Please help me to know You, and be closer to You in a way that I can appreciate. Help me to not base You on what may have been the flaws of man. Lastly God, give me patience so that I will not be so quick to give up on You again. This I ask in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen."
