He is Risen
A traditional hymn sung at this time of the year begins, "Jesus Christ is Risen Today, Alleluia." This hymn speaks of the hope of every true Christian - the resurrection.
Unfortunately, many people today reject the teaching of the resurrection. The thought of a dead person being raised bodily from the grave seems utterly impossible. When the apostle Paul spoke of the resurrection in the city of Athens long ago he encountered a similar opposition. Acts 17:32 says, "Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some began to sneer."
But although some will sneer, the truth of the resurrection is not altered. You see, if Christ had not been raised, Christianity would have been impossible. The Bible says, "If Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins" (I Cor. 15:17). But the fact remains, Jesus Christ "was declared with power to be the Son of God by the resurrection from the dead" (Romans 1:4).
Do you believe in the resurrection? Without real faith in the resurrection, you cannot be a Christian. Again, the Bible says, "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved" (Romans 10:9). Do you see how essential belief in the resurrection really is? Without such faith there is no salvation. I therefore call you to place faith in the risen, living, Lord Jesus Christ. It is this living Lord who says to you now, "Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).
