A Most Unusual PlaceHebrews 13:5 God said "Never will I leave or forsake you" The first signs of spring surrounded us. Birds were chirping, and we could see they were busy building their nests for this spring. The cool evening air was perfect for grilling, so one evening we decided to have a cookout. I noticed some leaves and pine straw pieces around the base of the grill, but thought it had just been blown there and were caught in the legs of the grill. We rolled the grill away from the wall and proceeded to remove the cover.Much to our surprise, as we did this, a little bird flew out from under the cover. We carefully lifted that cover, and saw, to our utter amazement, a bird nest! A bird nest- under the grill cover- a most unusual place! We knew we couldn't disturb that little nest, so we rolled the grill back to its original place and left it alone. For weeks we watched Mr. & Mrs. Nuthatch diligently tend to their spring home. They took turns sitting on the nest in the sweltering heat of that dark, hot, unusual place where they had built their nest. Once we lifted a corner of the cover and saw 4 little eggs nestled in their twiggy home. Then the eggs hatched, and we could hear little peep peeps coming from under the cover. Now the parents flew back and forth feeding their young, and finally, we saw them no more. We lifted the cover and saved the empty bird nest which had been built in a most unusual place. Likewise, I have noticed lately, a mention of Christianity in a most unusual place. I would expect to see and hear about God in church, Sunday school class, bible study classes, and from parents and pastors. Even radio and T.V. have programs and short spots proclaiming the goodness of God, and the saving grace of Jesus. There is one place, however, which I think is a most unusual place to mention God, and it is on billboards. Across the nation, billboards proclaim one liners about God, and they are quite frequently seen as one travels the highways. They are even displayed around town where I live, in Atlanta. I am thrilled with this idea as a reminder to Christians or; a jolt to someone with a growing awareness of God. You just never know when you will see or hear God Himself--in a most unusual place!
