A Taste of Savannah

Exodus 20:8 Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy

Each year when we go Savannah, Georgia, we drive down to the river to see what's happening. We often visit when an event is transpiring called " A Taste of Savannah". Many restaurants set up temporary stations and serve a taste of their wonderful food. We stroll around and try something from most all of them, enjoying what they have to offer.

We have been traveling a lot lately, and I have been experiencing what I call, "a taste of Christian denominations". When I arrive in a new town, I call a Christian bookstore, look in the phone book, or ask at the front desk for nearby churches. Because I try to worship near where we stay, I have had the opportunity to attend churches of different denominations. It has been a wonderful experience for me, and I have been blessed to experience the "best" of each. When I went to an Episcopal church, I was in awe as the procession showed such honor to God; in the Lutheran church, I enjoyed worshipping through a lot of liturgy; and kneeling before God in the Catholic Church was something special for me. In the Baptist church I could tell of their sense of appreciation for Bible knowledge and reference; and the Presbyterians were always listening to the call from God. The Methodist minister spoke parables for today; in the Church of Christ the congregation sang glory to God in beautiful a capella, and Pentecostal churches have such beautiful freedom in praise and worship.

When I go home, I worship God each Sunday in my home church – a Methodist one. As I sit in the pew, God's love just washes over me, and I feel as I have truly come home. But I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to "sample" the best(for me!) of each denomination. It is my gift from God, as my husband and I enjoy our "traveling" stage of life.
