Doggie Treats

My daughter has this new pup that's about as big as a peanut. I'm still totally amazed at how much this thing can eat. It's like a teenager. And WHAT she eats? That's baffling, too. Yesterday she ate part of a pencil, half the lining of my favorite purse and at least one June bug.
Now personally, I can't imagine looking at the lining of my purse and thinking, "My, doesn't that look tasty." And I guarantee I have never, EVER looked at a June bug or two and thought, "Ooh look, snacks!"
The Bible tells us to crave the right things. 1 Peter 2:1-2 says, "So be done with every trace of wickedness (depravity, malignity) and all deceit and insincerity (pretense, hypocrisy) and grudges (envy, jealousy) and slander and evil speaking of every kind. Like newborn babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [completed] salvation" (AMP).
Walking out this life in Christ in the right way has a lot to do with developing the right appetites. We're told to crave the pure milk of the Word. Not only is craving God's Word a good craving, but it will help mold our thinking. It will cause us to crave more of the good things in life that will build us up spiritually and help us to become the fruit-bearing Christ-followers we're meant to be. It keeps us healthy and well-fed.
I want to crave those good things that will bring fruit. Spiritually yummy!
That pup? She can keep the June bugs.
