Lessons on Love and WarAs a teen, I read "The Diary Of Ann Frank", the true story of the Holocaust as seen from the eyes of a young girl and the thoughts expressed in her diary. At the time, the message, which strongly came through to me, was the preciousness of human life and the importance of love. I came to this conclusion because it seemed that, at the onset of the Holocaust before most were actually aware of the atrocities taking place, those attempting to hide out not only made temporary living arrangements for their families, but plans for some of their valuable material items as well. As the war, hatred and injustice progressed, so did the recognition for what is truly important.... no longer did families give much importance to food, shelter or material items, but on the lives of their loved ones. It was now clearly evident that their very lives were at risk and fathers and mothers held tightly to their children. I am certain that during the Holocaust and other low points in human history, many people gave up their lives so that others would live. How many soldiers fought for our freedom? How many mothers passed up food so that their children could eat? Perhaps it is at our lowest point that man's true colors are evident. Do not let His precious gift of love go to waste.
