20 Seconds to DieFernando was the careful type. He always used a seat belt. Even in town. Even before it became law. He was the all-around good guy. Well-liked. Respected. Successful. Even a church-goer. When a home-made bomb went off behind him on the shuttle flight to Sao Paulo, it blew a hole in the side of the plane. Of all the passengers aboard, Fernando was sucked out. Only Fernando. Still buckled into his seat. He may have been conscious in his buckled-in free fall to the ground, 3000 feet below. 20 seconds to impact. 20 seconds to die. What was he thinking? Regrets? Joys? Fear? Prayer? Just when we think our life is buckled down and under control, a fuse connects somewhere and ejects us from our insulated, pressurized cabin to a 20-second fatal fall. What do you do then? And who will be around to pick up the pieces? You have 20 seconds to decide.
